Alrighty guys, I’ve said this a couple times on Facebook but never on here: it is a Big Fucking Deal that there is a new ALL AGES venue in Portland that not only plays great local bands, but doesn’t charge you an arm and a leg to see them. I remember from very recent experience how 20-and-under folks get BONED when it comes to shows—seemingly every show you want to see is at a bar (it’s just cheaper for every party involved) and when it’s at the Hawthorne Theatre or another bigger venue, prices are fucking steep. The folks at Slabtown are awesome people, and they’re working really hard to support your ability to connect with local music, new friends outside of your school who “get it”, and just in general your right to party.

Met lots of new friends, saw a zillion bands I wanted to see, bought a million buttons from PORK, added to our record collection, and just basically spent two days drinkin’ in the sun with my sweetie. Did I mention I rebroke my butt dancing to Shannon and The Clams? Because I did. And they were amazing.
